COPA MEETING:  - Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 7:30 Rockcliffe Flying Club

Patrick Gilligan, COPA VP OPS, will run us though the ins and outs of using your iPad and ForeFlight App in your aircraft. As you likely know, a couple of hundred bucks gets you all IFR and VFR charts and plates, STARS, SIDS, etc. for North America, plus an electronic copy of the Canada Flight Supplement (CFS) and other documents. That's over $800 just for all VNCs for Canada and then there is all US Sectionals plus the full set of IFR stuff. But can you, or perhaps more to the point, should you use this combination as the only set of maps and pubs in your aircraft? What are your legal and safe options? Bring your opinions, iPads, iPhones and hand held GPSs to the meeting and let us know where you stand. EVERYONE WELCOME!

MARKETING COMMITTEE MEETING – Saturday, November 30th, 3 PM.

Do you have marketing or social networks & web content creation experience? Are you interested in building experience in marketing or social networks & web content creation while having fun? Do you have an ideas on how to do marketing (both to the outside public and to the members), do you live on Twitter & Facebook, know how to spread the word or how to let everyone know about the best place to go flying and spend hours hangar-talking? Have you wondered how to volunteer at the Rockcliffe Flying Club but aren’t available to help during days such as Canada Day? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then this is for you. The Marketing committee is getting a new life in order to spread the word about the great place where friends come to fly called the Rockcliffe Flying Club. This committee will be covering many different aspects for both the internal and external marketing (e.g. to the members and to people outside the club), in all different forms of media including print (did you see the RFC ad in the COPA Flight magazine) and online (the web site as well as the RFC pages on Facebook and Twitter). From an internal marketing perspective, there are different things to do such as a membership kit, information about the volunteering options and much more. And most of this can be done on a flexible schedule.

GIMLI GLIDER: - Saturday, December 7, 2013 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Project North Star Association Canada and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum are hosting Captain Bob Pearson Retired Air Canada. He will speak about his experiences including piloting Air Canada's B767 (C-GAUN) Gimli Glider in July 1983. This may be one of our last chances to hear from Captain Pearson. He may do fewer speeches in the future. Those wishing to attend this meeting are asked to send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
