RFC FALL CLEAN-UP, Saturday, October 18, 2014 9:00 - 14:00

 

If you are planning on joining us for our Fall Clean-up, a breakfast of coffee and donuts will be provided to start the morning off right.  We have compiled a project list for the airport and the clubhouse.  If you have your own work gloves, steel toe boots etc., it would help if you were able to bring them with you.  Pizza will be served for lunch.

When you arrive please go to the classroom as the list of tasks and supplies will be placed on the tables.  Please choose a task and sign your name to it.

Are you interested in the next $100 hamburger ? Curious where other pilots are flying this weekend ? Looking for a last minute destination ? A breakfast destination ?

Why not join the Flying Activities Club,RFC Flyers google group. The Flyers group, is an email group, to communicate with other pilots and coordinate trips to various destinations.

2). RFC Grassroots Tour 2014 – its back !!!

OnSaturday October 4 (rain date Sunday October 5), enjoy the retro charm of grass runways on the inauguralRFC Grassroots Tour!

The tour will take us to three grass fields east of Ottawa: Hawkesbury East (runway 10/28, 2000ft), Lancaster Airpark (07/25, 2400ft), and Embrun (08/26, 2260ft). A comprehensive briefing will take place at 11AM at RFC. The tour will put about 2 hours on the Hobbes, and we expect to be back at Rockcliffe by 1500-1600, when we will enjoy a complimentary barbecue!

Two RFC C172s have been reserved for participation in the tour, and are available on a first come first served basis by contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  . To encourage maximum participation, rental pilots are asked to pair with other rental pilots where possible.

Results - Spot Landing and Flour Bombing Competitions.

 This year we had 16 aircraft participating.

 

 Spot Landing Competition:

Objective is to land in the designated landing box. Points are awarded based on proximity to the landing box. The landing box is zero points. Ties are decide by distance actual distance to landing box.

 1st place: FPTN, Chris Hobbs, between 1st line and landing box (5 points)

2nd place: GMTT, David Arthurs, between 1st line and landing box (5 points)

3rd place: GMME, Guillaume Larose, between the 1st line prior and landing box (10 points)

 Special mention: GQUO, between the 1st line prior and the landing box (10 points); GQQV, between the 1st and 2nd lines after the landing box (10 points); FHFK, between 2nd -and 1st lines before the landing box (20 points).

 Majority of the other landings were long, past the fifth line marking after the landing box (30 points)

 Flour Bombing Competition

 Objective is to "bomb" the target, closest to centre of target circle, 25 meter diameter.

 1st place: FPTN, Chris Hobbs, inside circle, 11 paces from centre

2nd place: GQQV, Boris Misljencevic and Louis Philippe, on the circle outline

3rd place: GMME, Geoff Sangster and Tim Winchester, 18 paces outside circle

 The rest of the "bombs" were pretty much all over the place, infield, runway, taxi-way, with one "bomb" landing within a 20 pace proximity of the spot landing box!

 A special thanks to the members that volunteered their time Sunday, which helped to make this event a success. Please remember to enter your time into the VMS.

 

 

The RFC Members BBQ and flour bombing/Spot landing competitions will be moved to its rain date Sunday, September 7th. The times for both events will remain the same.

If you were booked for the flour bombing/spot landing competition on MME (or any other aircraft) today we will move you over to the same time slot booking for tomorrow. Please call dispatch if you need to make changes.

If you were not available today but would like to join us tomorrow for the BBQ and/or the competitions please call dispatch and sign up.
